Camping other than at Red Rocks Campground
Hey there |
We stayed at a campground up by Mt. Charleston a few years ago. It was about 45 minutes (?) from Red Rocks, if I recall correctly. Couldn't tell you anymore than that. |

Truck Bivy in the parking lot of RedRocks Casino. |

The Frontier is no more; it was imploded in November. |

Greg wrote:They should have put another campground in there if you ask me. One lousy campground for Red Rocks is complete bullsh*t.RR climbing '04 Barnes & DeAngelo mentions pg.16 .."plans are underway to double the size of the campground" Wonder if that already happened or still being planned ? |
eric, how does YOURS help?? |

Lovell Canyon Rd. off of Hwy 160 right after Mountain Springs. I've camped there before and there is plenty of room to spread out if you're in a group. |
Lovell Canyon is nice, quiet/peaceful, FREE (except for extra gas) and easy, if not as close as you would like. |
Tried to find this on the other threads, couldn't... I have camped in my rig on one of the pullouts on the Hwy and wasn't bothered. Is this frowned upon? Also, do you need to get a permit to bivy in Oak Creek Canyon (assuming you don't park in the scenic loop and on the Hwy)? Would like to do Eagle Dance and Levitation over Presidents Day weekend and looking to gain the time edge on the ensuing masses. |

Bumping this... |

What is up with this issue? I see a different version of this same thread pop up about every three weeks. |

Can we just post the RR camping situation, which never changes and needs no updates, on the home page of MP? There is one BLM campground. There is nowhere else nearby to camp except some canyon 30 miles away where your gear will be stolen. It will forever be this way. This thread and three others about camping are a part of the Nevada forum sticky thread. An attempt has been made to consolidate the information. Hope it is helpful. red rock sticky thread |

Traveling with 12 people, can't you reserve a group site? Did this a couple of times, makes the whole 13 Mile campground as easy as possible. |
Group sites can be reserved by calling 702.515.5350 and speaking with Chelise. She's a very pleasant person to talk with. The sites are $40/night, can have 8 vehicles, and up to 20 people. She can email you a credit card payment form, or you can pay by check more than 2 weeks in advance. Reservations are considered tentative until she has payment, so I'd opt for the CC option. |
never been - wanted to know if you can walk to climbs at the RR campground. Is there more than one? |
Only one formal campground, not within reasonable walking distance to climbs. |
OK. thx weston. |

I've posted a couple nearby spots I've found over the winter of 2017/18 |
