Netherlands Climbing Gym Recommendations

I'll be traveling to the Netherlands for just over three weeks for work in early March and wanted to keep my routine of 2 to 3 climbing gym sessions a week. I'll be staying in Rijswijk. Does any one have any recommendations on the best climbing gym? It looks like there are two in nearby Den Haag but one looks like its only for birthday parties and such. How about Amsterdam or Rotterdam since they are major cities?

Also from the few pictures I've seen it doesn't look like they mark routes with either tape or hold color. Am I missing something?

Any thoughts on language barrier as I only know about four words of Dutch but last time I was there most people spoke some English?

Dank U!

Hey Mike!
I was just in Amsterdam and climbed at Klimmuur in Amsterdam, and I liked it well enough. Nice long TR routes, but not much in the way of bouldering. It looks like they have a few other locations as well.

The few gyms I've been to in Europe mark their routes by hold color, but I'm not sure if that's everywhere or just where I've been.

In Amsterdam, just about everyone I met spoke English and I didn't have any problem finding partners for the few days I was there.

Good luck!

Hi Mike!

I'm from Amsterdam so i can tell you a bit about the climbing there. I always go to Klimmuur Centraal which is awesome! Great routes, great people, great bar. The crowd is very international. I'm Dutch but most of my friends from climbing are ftom different nationalities. Everyone speaks English. Besides the Klimmuur, in Amsterdam there's also Klimhal Sloterdijk (very big place), Mountain Network (nice lead routes) and Monk (bouldering only). Routes are marked by the colour of the holds. I haven't climbed at any of the places outside amsterdam, but i'm sure they're good as well.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Eline
