Neptune Mountaineering Congratulates REI

The folks here at Neptune want to congratulate REI on their purchase of Mountain Project. We were psyched to see them here recently brushing up on their climbing knowledge!

Well, Neptune isn't exactly locally owned anymore... So the tongue in cheek mockery is less impactful.

Nice plug for yourself, Neptune. You could have added a congratulations to one of the existing threads, but...

Thanks to Neptune for being one of the very first supporters of ClimbingBoulder over a decade ago! You guys spread the word, and a whole lot of stickers, in the early days.

In all seriousness - and clearly playing in the outdoors is serious business - we've appreciated our relationship with REI over the past 10-15 years in Boulder. We'll send folks down there on a regular basis when we don't have something, and they do the same to us. Good shop, good people. In a way REI helps shops likes ourselves, Feathered Friends and others because when customers don't find what they need at REI, they'll come to the more specialty shops for alternatives. The post was a little poke at a good store who we also respect a ton. Just keeping it light and fun folks. It's good to see REI backing this site, because truth is the more people who are out climbing and playing in the outdoors, and not watching TV and such, and we're all a lot better off.
