I have been off the rock and out of work for the last six months due to serious hand /wrist pain and was diagnoses with DeQuervains Syndrome. It has been a crippling injury and is not been getting better despite following doctors orders. I have tried massage therapy, chiropractors, yoga, stretching, resting, pills, splints, a stairoide injection and finally went in for a DeQuervains release surgery. It has been six weeks sins going under the knife and things are not getting any better here in Alaska. Many friends have had much better luck on the front range so I'm packing up the car and headed to south Golden. Dose anyone have good recommendations for sports therapy or sports medicine in Colorado. My hand and wrist is the pressing issue yet it may have just been the straw that broke the camels back. I believe it is caused form 20 years of pushing adventure sports harder than most with lots of injuries along the way. I am in serious need of a full body tune up. Knees, hip, back, shoulders..... have all been giving me trouble for a long time. Its time to look for new heeling grounds so any advice for a good facility that can get an athlete back on his feet would be much apprehended. Message therapists, chiropractics, yoga and osteopathic manipulative solutions are good. Pharmacist, Surges and people with MD in there name can go the the back of the line. If all else fails at least there are lots of good brewerys in Co. Thanks, Nick
Heard this interview on the enormocast and was impressed with the physical therapist Jared Vagy. While he is not in colorado, but seems to have lots of insight to climbers and their injuries. enormocast.com/episode-63-j… Here are some links to his stuff.... theclimbingdoctor.com
I liked the book from crossfit guru Kelly Starett... "becoming a supple leopard" suppleleopard.com
I know brutal title. But good stuff helped me put my back on track. Here is Kelly's website mobilitywod.com
Laura Schmonsees at bodywise pt in boulder. She is a climber of 20 years and a skilled pt with several levels of dry needling certs. She basically fixed my hip when ortho's and other PT's had chalked me up as a surgical candidate. I'm not familiar with your syndrome, so maybe call and have a chat with them first. They are super straight up with everything from treatment to insurance clarification.. Good luck! bodywisept.com
