I have a family vacation coming up in early April in Myrtle Beach, SC. Going to spend a day with the wife along the way climbing. Was originally thinking a stop at Moore's Wall or the New, but wanted your opinions instead. Thoughts?

We're coming from New Jersey. We go to Seneca every memorial day, so we'd like to try something different.

Some great climbing at both places so maybe just see what the weather is like closer to the date. Most areas at Moore's get very little sun so if it's cold it will be pretty unpleasant there. You can find shade or sun at the New.

Yeah, go where the weather is better. Like Emil said, Moore's doesn't get a lot of sun, although by April, I'd think it would be ok unless there was a cold snap. There is more variety of climbing at the New. Cracks, face, sport, trad, easy, hard, steep, slab, there's all sorts of good climbing at the New. Moore's is aweseome, but tends to be a lot of the same type of climbing; steep horizontals, with little real quality climbing below 9+/10-, with a few notable exceptions (Zoo VIew, Airshow, Raise Hell, Wailing Wall...). IF it were me, I'd pick the New, but really I love both places.

I would go to the New

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
