Description
This state forest has a variety of climbing/rappelling options along with some creek hiking. The state forest offers a lot in regards to learning climbing/rappelling/roping technique. There is a variety of rock typical of glacial deposit CT. The composition is mainly Schist with some house sized boulders. There are three distinguished sections here; Toby's Rock which looks like a graffiti billboard painted by the not-so-witty. It is the obvious rock face lurking at Route 8. Then there are cliffs that overhang the parking area, and the house size boulder in the main parking with a few routes. The creek running down the mountain side offers a nice ravine to tyrolean traverse over a few areas. There is a slew of bouldering in NSF which can be found in the CT bouldering section. This place offers a few things if you know were they are.
