So I was trying on a pair of Mythos' at the store and I was a bit shocked at how much smaller it seemed I needed to go for these. Hoping to get some feedback from anyone familiar with these shoes. I have a street 9/9.5 and have used La Sportiva Nagos in a 40, Vipers in a 40.5, and Acopa Spectre's in a 9. For the Mythos, I had a 39.5 on and I could still wedge my thumb in back. I've heard these really stretch so it seems like a 39 or even possibly a 38.5 might be in order. Unfortunately, the didn't have any sizes smaller than a 39.5, so I am left wondering. Any thoughts on how far down to go with these? Thanks, Jason

Yes, I have found this to be true with the pairs of Mythos that I have purchased. I wear 10.5 street shoes, and size 41.5 mythos work great for me. Also, make sure you get a pair of Mythos that feel a bit tight at first, as they do stretch after a bit of breaking in. C

I was told to go down 2 full sizes, but unless you really enjoy pain don't do it. I would recommend a size and a half smaller, however, my best friend climbs in mythos that are the same size as his street shoe and loves them.

Wow, I guess everybody's feet are different, even in the same size. I also wear 9.5 street shoes, and I have two pairs of 41.5 Mythos that are nice and snug. By way of comparison, my Katanas are 42 (tight enough so that I take them off between climbs), and my Montrail Zealots are 43 (perfect fit). And for what it's worth, I've not seen the Mythos stretch much at all; both pairs fit about like they did when I got them. JL

My street shoe is a 10.5. My mythos are 40.5 and are my comfort shoe. I have worn them with a thin sock on cold days. My performance shoes are the muira, size 40. They are very tight at first but break in perfectly.

My personal experience was probably about 1.5 sizes. It went from me thinking, "oh crap, I bought these painfully tight" to comfort trad shoe. The mythos is one of those amazing shoes that seems to fit any foot. Large volume, low volume, skinny, fat, pointy, boxy, no matter your foot, the mythos will fit it. This is probably why you're getting such a range in responses. The amount of stretch, I'd imagine, depends on where your particular foot needs space. I found that the width stretched out a little more than the length, which was good for my foot. Evan

Thanks for all the feedback. I'll definitely make sure to try more of them on at the store and confirm the fit. I was also considering trying the women's sizes since it says they are narrower in the heel and higher in the instep. Thanks again. Jason

I went down 2.5 sizes when I tried the Mythos out. It was the first time I had worn smaller than size 10 since I was 12. Unfortunately the shoes fell apart after a few days on the rock. I returned them (thanks REI).

You can't wear a number, only a shoe. Go with what your feet tell you. Every company & model runs different. Hell, even two pairs of the same can feel different at the store depending on if they've been tried on before.

I'm another size 10.5 street shoe wearer who finds the 40.5 size Mythos to be perfect for my feet. Mythos WILL stretch a lot while you're breaking them in, especially on a hot sweaty day. I would make sure you have at least two finger's width between the laces when you buy them, to allow for a tight fit once they do stretch.

I honestly can't understand why they are still on the market. There are so many shoes out there that do what the mythos do (smear and climb pure cracks) without all the disadvantages (absolutely everything else). i disagree (no offense, just my experience) i have several pairs of mythos. i bought them 1.5 sizes smaller than my normal shoes, and when they stretch out they are perfect for me. the final fit is snug but comfortable, and with this fit i can even edge well with them. for me, they are the best overall shoe i've ever used.

I think I went like 4 to 4.5 sizes down. They still feel too big and baggy after breaking in and are pretty much worthless for any kind of edging. Probably the worst 100 bucks I've ever spent on climbing gear. Actually, hexes take the number spot for the worst $100 decision. Mythos are number two.
