Description
Getting There
Note, this is a very difficult area to find if you haven't been shown in person
From the Boulder Gardens parking area.
Walk up the left side of the road for about 100ft looking for a small but definite trail that cuts through the brush.
Follow this trail over a small ridge and into a valley riddled with boulders. Continue up the valley keeping to the left and boulder hopping when necessary until it opens up. If it opens onto a treeless valley lots of grass and a large boulder perched on top of a pile of dirt, congratulations you've arrived. But if you come to a point on top of a small canyon close to the Yogi boulder then you've close but not yet there. While viewing said canyon, look to your left. See that steep ridge? Mushroom boulder is on the other side of that. So work your way around and there you are.
-------
Better directions per Cameron Smith:
Follow the rock garden trail to about 50 feet past mile marker 0.7 and look to your right. You should see a low point between two peaks. Walk directly through this low point and continue about 100 yards and the mushroom boulder is right there. No boulder hopping necessary, much friendlier for carrying pads
