| I am planning on soloeing the mountaineers route, but I am open to ideas if I can get a partner. Maybe the N.E ridge of Russel or L.P.P. I would like to start on the 26th and get home on the 1st. I live in south OC,we could car pool or meet there. Get back to me if this sounds interesting. dan dot richards 140 at gmail dot com | FLAG |

| Be cognizant of snow storms if you're going in late Dec. I did Whitney 3 years ago also around Christmas time, and it was really really cold with wind and snow storm. Make sure you have a really good 4 season tent. You will likely be the only person there if you are planning to be at trail camp (last campsite before summitting whitney. I don't recommend going there solo, if you are then all the kudos to you! | FLAG |

| Thanks for the info Yen! But I am planning on taking the mountaineers route if no one joins me. And I'm definetly equiped for the winter. Anyone care to join me? | FLAG |

| Are you set on those dates? I'd be down to go but I probably couldn't leave til the 29th (maybe earlier). I did the mountaineers route last january - lot of fun. I'd be keen on going for whitney and russell. LPP sounds fun too. | FLAG |

| Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, yesterday was crazy. I have to be back to work on Jan 2nd. I can start later than the 26th, but that wouldn't leave much time. I'm open to other climbs, maybe something with a shorter approach.Maybe LPP? If we did start on the 26th would could link up Whitney and Russel. But I would be happy just to get out. I see we live in the same area, I'm in foothill ranch. I'm going on a worm up climb this weekend. Baldy from the north starting in Wrightwood getting 4 peaks, Wright mt. Pine, Dawson, then Baldy. It's a great hike, hit me up if your interested in either. Dan 714 310 0493 | FLAG |

| Not sure how much snow fell down around the Whitney area but in the northern section of the Sierra's the avalanche danger on all aspects from below treeline to higher elevations is up there. Many feet of fresh unconsolidated snow sitting on a destabilizing layer with major wind slabs galor. It's dangerous out there right now. Be safe :) | FLAG |
