moving to NC next year

Hey peeps, I'm most likely going to be moving to NC next year to start med school. I'll be just south of the RTP area. Two questions:

1) What's the gym/crag access like? I've been to TRC in Raleigh, and I know there's a location in Morrisville too? Friend told me closest crag is ~2 hrs away... is there really nothing closer?

2) Housing suggestions? School is in Lilington, I'm thinking of living in Fuquay Varina so I'm acceptably close to both school and climbing.
