I'm moving to the Hannover NH area this week. If anyone wants to climb rock, or ice later this fall please let me know. Also, what are the best options for climbing gyms?

There's some options for gyms but they're not great. Closest real gym and best option for route climbing is in Quechee, VT about 15-20 mins away. Its called Green Mountain Rock Climbing Center (formerly known as The Wall). I've never been since they changed ownership, but it was a great gym when it was The Wall. I'm not a big fan of the GMRCC guys that run the place now. They did used to have the tallest walls in VT until Metrorock opened a gym up in Essex Junction, VT.

If you like bouldering the better option is right there in Hanover. The Dartmouth outing club gym. It's located in the basement of a dorm down by the Thayer School of Engineering right at the end of Thayer Drive. Its super old school, but has some great design in the walls for bouldering. Its free sometimes (when they don't care) or just 5 bucks.

Hey Travis, there's a pretty good group of climbers here in the Upper Valley. I'm not one for gyms, but I'd be happy to hit some ice with you this season.

Sounds good Mike, ice season is nearly upon us. I'm looking forward to it!

I highly recommend the GMRCC gym in Quechee. The folks working there are fantastic, the routes are great, and it's a laid back nice atmosphere. A bunch of the folks that climb there are Rumney diehards so there are great training routes for Rumney.

Hey Travis, I'll be moving to the Plymouth area for school early in the year and am always into climbing. I'll do trad or sport, and I'd love to try ice sometime. Feel free to connect with me if you need a partner for Rumney or Cathedral, I'll be back in November.

GMRCC in quechee is a good community and is quite good as a small town, plywood gym. The demographics of the area kind of preclude a large, modern sport climbing facility so it's sort of all we can hope for. The adult climbing league is running on thursday nights right now and is a good place to meet people. We climb until 8:30 or so then go drink beer at the Worthy Kitchen afterwards.

The DOC gym I find pretty dirty and unpleasant although it does complement quechee well in terms of bouldering. The people who set there are mutants.

There is also some decent local outdoor bouldering. Tradition demands I not spray about it online but I can show you around some areas if you want. PM me

It's actually quite a good area for climbing although there's not a crag in our backyard: Rumney is an hour, Cannon 1.5 hrs, Conway/Kancamagus Crags are 2 hrs, Daks are 3 hrs, Farley is 2 hrs, etc.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
