Thinking of moving to Boise. Tell me about it.

Bump, also considering the move! Good culture for climbing?

As a local, I'm obligated to first tell you that "You will hate it here. Don't move to Idaho." Ok, now I've done my duty.

More seriously... Yes, good climbing culture.

The Black Cliffs are the default outdoor climbing option, right on the edge of town, hundreds of routes at all grades, columnar basalt rock. Climbable all year, as long as it is dry and above 45 degrees or so. Climbing at the cliffs for a couple hours before or after work is not uncommon.

In the Spring, Summer, and Fall, the City of Rocks is a three hour drive away, for excellent granite. When the snow melts, the Sawtooth Mountains and McCall have more adventurous climbing options. Browse Mountain Project.

There are three main indoor gyms in town these days: Vertical View, The Commons, and Asana. (also some others like at the University and the YMCA, etc)

Coming from Palm Springs, the weather might be the hardest thing to get used to. We do have four real seasons here.

Lol! Ancient thread. CD transporter, you replied to someone who was last on MP in 2015.

n3uro, there are several newer threads with Boise part of the discussion. Search MP for Boise in the forums, or blaze away and get Palm Springs answers he isn't interested in. Or start a new thread.

Best, Helen
