Movement's New Denver Climbing Gym

I took a tour of Movement's new Denver gym today, and it is AWESOME. Big walls (50 ft.), tons of climbing (26,000 square feet), very intentional design. We've been waiting a long time for this, and finally Denver has a premier and centrally located climbing gym! Definitely something to celebrate.

They are still in overdrive as they finish up the interior, and there will be a soft opening this weekend with memberships coming with waived start-up fees (saves you $75). They are waiting on final approval from the city before climbing can begin, but the sign-off could come as early as this weekend.

This is GREAT for Denver! Big thanks to Mike, Anne-Worley, Chris, Paul, and the rest of the Movement crew for the sense of vision and the execution!

Especially stoked that Movement Boulder membership will work in Denver, too!

I haven't found any specs on the height of the walls over in the Boulder's Movement - I almost assume they're ~50' as well.

Total beast of a new place. The Boulder one this winter season is extremely filled most nights. Makes my introvert sensibilities scream on the inside.

These walls are taller than Boulder's. Apparently there's only one other gym with 50 foot walls in CO, and it is in Grand Junction...

The article says it's on the corner of 6th Street and Mariposa. Google street view shows a building that says "Construction Industry Training Council." Is it next to this building? Must be new.

Is it OK to start arguing about route grades and gym policies before they're open?

That building is just north of 6th Ave. Movement is actually south of 6th at Lipan. Get there by driving west on 5th from Kalamath.

+1 to Jim--the main entrance is off of Mariposa just south of 6th but you can also access the lot via 5th. Yes, it is a new building.

I think that whole can't climb naked policy is bullcrap! they better get with the program.

You can pretty much climb naked at Movement. Enough so, that I was almost asked to leave a Gym in CA, after taking my shirt off! Funny little culture shock, there!

Can anyone confirm that a membership is good in both locations?

They stated on their facebook page that the membership is good at both locations.

Who Dat, you may not know this given the brevity of your MP membership, but some of us have been working for years on bringing a premier climbing gym to central Denver (without compensation, mind you) and have been keeping the climbing community informed of progress along the way.

Others joined MP two days ago to enlighten us on which versions of meth are legal and to call other MP members a shill. In your next post, might I suggest adding something of actual value to this community instead? Thanks.

You've been working hard to enable Movement to capitalize on Denver's climbing community? Sounds like a noble pursuit. I suppose people who praise apple products should be given recognition for increasing Apple's stock value by that logic.

How about a community-owned gym? If you'd said "some of us have been working hard to get Denver's climbing community together to open a public gym with reasonable prices" I might respect your "hard work."

Just calling it like it is.

Startup fees have always annoyed me. I travel a lot and only spend a month or a few weeks in one area. Daypasses are not the way to go, so I get a single monthly membership; however, I am not going to pay $170 to climb in a gym for a few weeks, that's ridiculous.

Startup fees dont actually cover any real expense so it seems like they are just the latest scam to trick people into paying more money than they think. They dont want to charge $90 a month, so they do $70 a month and $70 startup so you think you're only paying $70 a month.

I echo that x10. Movement and ET are really nice facilities, but I just want a low key place that I can go to train hard when the weather sucks and not spend $19 a pop.
