Hey Guys,

Im looking for help from all of you to help fund a 60 minute documentary called "The Nomad Trail - A Journey to the lake in the sky" in Remote area of Pakistan at a height of 14000 ft

This will be a challenging, dangerous and challenging task where 5 amateur hikers will be climbing alongside nomads for 2 weeks to cover a distance of 90km and a height of 9000 ft, I would be grateful if you guys who are mountain climbing and treking lovers will help me fund the project here at igg.me/at/Nomadtrail which has much more details on the project.

If you cannot contribute money, then atleast please spread the word to fellow mountaineers, trekkers and nature lovers. Here are some of the shots of the trek too

Thanks
Ahmed

Well, this should be entertaining on a few levels.

That sounds pretty cool. I'm not an amateur, so how about funding me instead? Higher probability of success = I'm a better bet to fund.

Seriously, asking random strangers to fund one's vacation is far beyond lame. Take this crap elsewhere, or preferably, nowhere at all.

I haven't been a member for long but I find it pretty lame to join a community and the day of ask the people for money.

I think this calls for a few memes!!! Ray or Stich around to work your magic? I have the popcorn ready... lol

By the pictures shown above it appears they have already completed the hike?

Looks like you also joined backpacker.com to ask for help (2 threads), and lonelyplanet.com to post 6 (since removed) requests today for money! Probably other places search engines haven't picked up yet too.

I've seen glaciers like that hiking around in Colorado! AWESOME, never knew...

C'mon guys, did you even read the website? Part of your donation will go to two medical professionals for their expedition to 14'000 ft in case of "oxygen deprivation".

Yeah that oxygen deprivation is pretty killer at 4300m. I have to hire 2 sherpas every time I go up Mt. Evans.

@ keithconn: Where is that photo on your profile from? Its gorgeous wherever it is.

I was gonna donate a bunch but recently I gave all my money to the butterfly research study in Kirgistan.

I can be your fecal donor if you ever need one out there though!

I need your help funding a climbing trip I am planning to Eldo. I live in Boulder, so I estimate my costs will include about $2 gas money, $8 for a day pass, $5 for my breakfast burrito, and at least $20 for a post-climb burger and beers.

For a $1 donation:
I will curse you by name for making this trip possible every time I get scared above my gear.

For a $5 donation:
At the bar after the climb, I will raise a glass in cheers to you for making this trip possible. If you meet me at the bar we can clink glasses and cheers in person. (your beer not included).

For a $10 donation:
Same as above but your beer is included.

For a $20 donation:
Same as above but you may also eat some of my fries.

Please tell me this MFer didn't really get $55k...

He really did. He rented out a music hall and had a potato salad party for whoever showed up.

I checked that out too. Brilliant absolutely brilliant! Bonus. Potato salad is awesome! Who wouldn't donate? It would be immoral!

Guys this a documentary and for all those making fun, its a story of 5 amateur hiker, we chose amateur hikers because thats the real deal which is going to make this hike more challenging and interesting in terms of documentary and story telling.

Besides there are many other elements relating to this documentary than just climbing. we are exploring the complete history, culture and tradition of the nomads who take their animals up here

Yes, thank you Ahmed! EXACTLY.

Guys, what we are trying to explain to you is that we are amateurs. The fact that I am an average, ordinary climber planning a trip that 99% of climbers could do, is what gives this expedition value.

Think of it this way: Which would you be willing to pay more for? A ticket to the symphony, or to an elementary school orchestra? A meal at a 5-star restaurant, or a neighborhood potluck?

You could go to Banff next week and watch professional athletes making amazing feats look easy (boring), or you could help fund my trip to Eldo. I promise you I have a talent for making 5.9 feel like an epic accomplishment.

By the way, it looks like Mountain Project has already pledged $10 - - so I assume that means each of you owes me a fraction of a cent and you are all welcome to join me for post-climb beer.

LeviWalters · · Unknown Hometown · Joined Jan 2015 · Points: 20

ahmedjilani, I don't think anyone is making fun of the expedition. Sounds like an amazing trip. I think people are laughing at the fact that you want strangers to pay for your trip, especially with it being a bit over the top.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
