Will be in town for the weekend and never been before. Hoping to get a half day of bouldering in. At the risk of being "those people", my wife and I will have our 9 month old with us, so I'm hoping for an "easy" approach, and good base conditions with some easy problems so one can boulder while the other watches the kid. Any recommendations?
most of the approaches in devils lake are easy. the west bluff has a paved trail that runs the entire length of the bluff top, and the lakeshore trail that it paved and runs the entire base. granted you will have to make you're way from the trail to the climbing you want to do. the east bluff ccc trail is a steep climb up the boulders, but once up not too bad. I hope you are carrying you're child in a pack, otherwise i would forget getting to any of it. as far as te boulder probs, i dont boulder, but there alot of short climbs and problems all over the park. good stuff i think on the trail by balanced rock. good luck and enjoy, ill be up there friday night through sunday
Well, the combination of only having 3 hours, a 9 month old with us, no spotter, and being new to the area led to very little climbing, and a lot of hiking with a crash pad. I ended up at a sandstone boulder that I can't find a description for, but that's about it. But it's a cool place!
