The Area 

This is the area that surrounds perhaps the largest boulder in the valley, otherwise known as Moby Dick. There are several boulders that envelope this kingpin, and offering the greatest concentration of boulder problems and some of the best dime bouldering that Santee has to offer.


Getting There 

This is the area on the east hillside dominated by the biggest boulder in the area, the Moby Dick boulder.

Entering the Crux

Jumpstart V3  CA : San Diego County : ... : The Amphitheater
One of the best problems at Santee! This one climbs the left side of the sloping southwest arete of the Amphitheatre. Start with a high foot, and walk your hands up the sloping edge. With the use of some small feet and a bad lefthand crimp, continue up the arete until you can palm all the way over the top, and top out direct, up and left. Its funny that people are naming routes that were put up before they were born. If you didnt do the FA, you cant name the route, and 99% of the problems at santee are 30+ years old.
