Description

Independent line between "Birthday Crack" and "Birthday Chimney"... do not touch either. Crux is right off the bat and is steep and a bit tricky to gain small ledge. Climbs cool edges, side pulls, and intermediate cracks. This is a legit seperate line, is not listed in any guide, and I have always thought it should be.

Location

Birthday Rocks between the great and famous "Birthday Crack" and the not so great and famous "Birthday Chimney". A much better alternative to the uneventful "B-Chimney" I think.

Protection

Takes great gear from small stopps and cams to mid sized stopps and cams. Make sure you protect the start well.

When you say "crux is right off the bat" does that mean there's a bat on the route that I should look out for?

It's am old timey idiom meaning "happens immediately". For sure a nod to boys (and girls) playing with balls and sticks pastime.

I think Burt has renamed this route "Bat mitzvah"! Andy, you only have yourself to blame!

A little contrived, but just consider it an exercise in good posture to keep your back off the chimney.

Actually, a pretty fun route.

Actually Doug... I gave it the more generic moniker "Mitzvah". I was not repeating myself correctly yesterday when were at the crag base below this climb.
