BETA PHOTO: Fox Face at the Foxx Rocks

Description

A sweet climbing area with lots of bouldering and a handfull of roped climbs. All roped climbs here have been established on lead, though some were cleaned prior to climbing. Climbs are up to 50 feet on Little Foxx and 40 feet on Foxx Rocks.
If you head out and bag an FA or are not sure, contact Nodin at W-Trek Outfitters, Adam Van Stratten (Biathlon) or Chris Duelen on here so that we can keep track. Actual trails are being established so please follow them (unless scouting new rocks).

Update: There is a new mountain bike trail circling around the bottom of Foxx Rocks. Use this trail for hiking as well but listen for bikers and get out of the way if they are coming...
Also, a few sport routes are coming to the Foxx Rocks within the next few months...

Getting There

Take 40th Ave west to Skyline and continue up Haines Road for a few hundred yards. Park in the Superior Hiking Trail pull off. Foxx Rocks is on the right hand side (north) and cannot be seen from the road except during winter. Little Foxx is on the left (south side) and can be seen easily (it looks bigger than it is...)

Alternately, park at the upper intersection of Haines Road and Skyline and hop the metal guard rail on the Little Foxx side to access the trails to South Little Fox.

Sit start on obvious holds on the arete and move up to a good right lippy pocket, then to the angled crack with thin crimps. Very high feet place one in a slightly crunched position, but ready for an exit, either straight up or out to the right....[more]   Browse More Classics in MN

There is a boulder about 15-20 feet high with two finger cracks going up the middle. I sent the left one on top rope and I bouldered the under cling heading out right. The finger crack on the right still has not been done. There is also a travers that we did about 50 yards down hill from there. If any one wants me to show what routes I am talking about I would be happy to.

These problems are on the Little Foxx side.

A 40 min. video of the bouldering in North and South Little Foxx and other skyline areas is available for free at W-Trek. Much thanks to Rich for all the work he did on it!
