Description
Merida is both a state and a town in the North of Venezuela near the Colombian border. Merida is a nice town home to the University of the Andes and has a distinctly mountain feel. Near the town are Pico Bolivar 16,523 ft., Pico Humboldt 16,214 ft., Pico Espejo 15,594 ft, and Pico Bompland 16,113 ft.
A series of trams leave from Merida and take climbers and tourists high onto the slopes of Pico Bolivar where several good rock climb await.
