Rocks above climbing area dangerously destabilized. MORE INFO >>>

Description

Some of Grassi's hardest routes are located here. Theres nothing under a 5.11a on the wall. The wall is east facing and is located at the bottom of the Canyon, on the west side of the first lake you hit coming down the canyon.

Getting There

Walk down the canyon from the upper parking lot until you hit the lake. Look for the large overhanging wall on the west side of the lake.

This route is the absolute classic at Grassi Lakes. It's the second route from the left(when you are facing it) at the Meathooks area. JUGs,JUGS,JUGS on uber overhanging terrain for a sustained 5.11a. The crux is trying to hold on for 60 ft these buckets that sometimes can go as deep as your wrist....[more]   Browse More Classics in International

Currently all of Grassi is closed due to road construction above, but when it is open this is a prime area for rockfall from above. In the cave you are usually safe, but sitting around the lake you take your life in your hands. Blame hikers, mountain goats or just bad luck, I have seen many a head wound and one serious evacuation.
