The outdoor store I shop at told me that a metolius sales rep said that there will be a new version of the master cam out this fall. Has anyone else heard about a master cam redesign?

I have not, but in a previous thread, a poster claimed that if the cam stops broke on the small ones, that it would render the springs useless. I was like "psssh, whatever", and he totally called me on it and was right. The small cams have the springs totally reliant on tiny cam stops.

I sent in a redesign request on that feature (and the 5 and 6 being a little floppy), so hopefully they will address those. Other than that, I don't think there is much of anything I would change.

Hopefully they'll do away with the Kevlar trigger wires. Mine slipped, and I cant ghetto-rig paper clip replacements like I could with other cams.

They aren't kevlar, it's technora. Bummer on it slipping on it considering the aeronautical grade adhesive they use it pretty burly. Try some epoxy to fix it.

When I say "slipping," I mean that the cord actually fed through the keeper at the base, making one side longer and the other shorter. This causes one of the cam lobes to be pulled down more than the other. When I engage the cam, the problem fixes itself, so I don't care that much.

I don't know anything about a new mastercam design, but it looks like a new version of their TCU is out. I don't know what has been tweaked since I don't own any.

Found it. They've increased the gnar'.

So far the only differences I've noticed in the new TCU/Powercams vs. the old ones is that the slings on the new ones are open loops (like on the Mastercams) instead of loops that are bar-tacked in the middle, thereby making them like dogbones on quickdraws.

There is now a 000 TCU as well.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
