Spam mail sent from MP.com yesterday to me. Ha ha.

"Dear,

I will like to be your friend my email (margretramos@hotmail.com to tell you more about me. Margret Ramos from Madrid Spain."

Ditto. Any upshot that followed?

On the bottom of the email, it will show the person's username. Please post that and I'll deactivate ASAP.

Thanks, she's squashed. We've had a rash of bogus signups recently. I'm killing new ones every couple hours - and a few dozen each morning.

Are you sure she's squashed? As of 9:17pm EDT 10/21/15 her profile's still there: mountainproject.com/u/marge…. Sorry if I'm being impatient.

How is it even possible that so many fake profiles sign up?

I seem to remember that I had to identify a belay device to sign up, I wrote grigri and got in. Are they real life people who are googling the answer?

Can you choose an entry question that would be harder to google?

Deactivated accounts still exist, they just can't do anything.

About the GriGri thing, that lost effectiveness years ago. We have 5-6 different security things, including a standard captcha test, but have yet to find something that will block a motivated human (robots are pretty well blocked right now).
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
