I hope everyone climbing and camping is out unscathed. The weekend looks promising with rain and cooler temperatures. Lets hope this helps firefighting efforts. Supposedly, the fire was started by someone trying to burn their toilet paper. However, this is not official. |

I heard from Misty Murphys facebook (reliable source) that it was started from some climbers burning toliet paper...I hope that isn't true, because that could really start some access issues.. |

They are calling it the Dizzy Rock Fire 10-15 acres so far. |

Whew! The Maple Canyon Fire (Dizzy Rock Fire) is reported as 100% contained. |
|
Maple Canyon has opened, via Sanpete County Sheriffs Office. |

That's great Maple is back open, but has anybody gone up to check out the extent of the damage? Maybe took some post fire pics..? |

A quick update and photos from the Maple Canyon fire damage. The fire affected vegetation in the lower part of the canyon, at least around and above The Early Bird Crag and Maple Corridor areas. The routes themselves appear unaffected, but erosion and re-vegetation are certainly issues. |

Thanks for the update and pics! |
