I hope everyone climbing and camping is out unscathed. The weekend looks promising with rain and cooler temperatures. Let’s hope this helps firefighting efforts. Supposedly, the fire was started by someone trying to burn their toilet paper. However, this is not official.

I heard from Misty Murphys facebook (reliable source) that it was started from some climbers burning toliet paper...I hope that isn't true, because that could really start some access issues..

They are calling it the Dizzy Rock Fire – 10-15 acres so far.

That's great Maple is back open, but has anybody gone up to check out the extent of the damage? Maybe took some post fire pics..?

Thanks!

A quick update and photos from the Maple Canyon fire damage. The fire affected vegetation in the lower part of the canyon, at least around and above The Early Bird Crag and Maple Corridor areas. The routes themselves appear unaffected, but erosion and re-vegetation are certainly issues.

Rain this week brought a flow of ash-mud down through the Maple Corridor area and down the creek bed.

Thanks for the update and pics!
