Carolyn Parker trying to figure out what to do wit...

Description

A smattering of boulders on either side of a ridge and a lower lump of boulders that is now marked as on Private Property, not sure about those. Some of the boulders have loads of nice black knobs on them making for some fun climbing. One boulder in particular has great rock and a couple of excellent problems. Because of the ridge some shelter from wind can be found. Not a lot of other climbers, though don't be surprised to see a little chalk and lots of hikers.

Getting There

Turn east on Manitoba about half way between the stop sign to the north and I-40 to the south. Turn right @ T, then first L, then L @ T, road curves right and right again, last a greater than 90 L onto a road up to the trailhead parking. One could also follow the bike route signs.

Start with your hands on the obvious crack thing in front of you. Your left foot can go in the little divet by your shins. Pull up and move your right hand up one notch in the crack thing. You can kind of paste your right foot against the wall and move your left hand to the top of the crack thing. Move your right hand up next to your left and paste your left foot on the wall to your left. You can kind of stand up and put your right foot in the crack. At this point, your hands don't have too much...[more]   Browse More Classics in NM
