Please note that the Madrone wall is still closed entirely for rock climbing, as it has been since 1997. MORE INFO >>>
Nevertheless it'd be great to put some information up here for Portland's most beloved crag.

Would it be ok with the community to put directions to Madrone on the site? Part of me feels that it's good information to have out there, but I don't want to do anything to encourage people to go out there while it's closed.
There are three sessions of trail rebuilding at Madrone Wall this summer. The first one is this Sunday, the 23th of May '10. Hope to see some of you out there and be sure to sign up with REI.
we ran into some rangers posting a no trespassing sign this past weekend. they told us they would be patrolling the area more now that the area is county property, and warned us that any climbers found on the property could get a "hefty fine." we asked how long it would be closed like this, and they said about two years. :(
It's August 2012. I am not seeing any updates on Madrone. Is Keith Daellenbach still involved? News articles in the past seemed to indicate that this wall would be open by now.
Yes, Keith is still very much involved as he is in charge of the Madrone Wall Preservation Committee (and has been since '97)
The current status is that the county has approved it as a public park but issues regarding facilities (parking waste disposal, etc.) have slowed the already slow bus.
For now it is asked that all climbers respect the no climbing/trespassing sanction. I will post with more information as it becomes available.
