I'm headed to Loon lake next weekend and aside from the one sketch map hand written on this site, does anyone know if there is more rope climbing in the area? I was hiking from Loon Lake to Spider Lake earlier this past summer and thought I might have seen a sparkly bolt on a wall further back behind Loon Lake, but wasn't able to go check it out at the time. I'd love to hear anyone s adventures in that area. Thanks.

There is an old out of print guidebook for the area by Bob Branscomb titled "Climbs in the Crystal Basin". There are climbs on the wall behind Loon lake (a 3 mi hike), and I'm encouraged to hear you saw a shiny bolt because, surprisingly, I didn't think many of those climbs have been rebolted and thought they still sported rusty 1/4" bolts.

There are more traveled areas and climbs called Basalt Bluffs (above the Loon lake road) and Looney Tunes (below the road I think). You might try searching on supertopo as I know Bob has posted some of his topos and beta there.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
