Looking for sportsmedicine doctor in Boulder for climbing injury

I have a recurring shoulder/elbow/wrist/hand injury that is probably related to climbing. I'm not interested in self-diagnosis (I have health insurance.)

Can anyone suggest a doctor or clinic?

thanks,
Dan

Boulder Center for Sports Medicine. The PT there, though not a climber himself, brought me back from a very limiting shoulder problem that looked like it was going to require surgery and it's been great since. I religiously followed his instructions (including no climbing for 6 weeks) and prescribed exercises however.

If you need to be cut, Drigan Wieder (sp?) did my wife's shoulder and he's done lots of famous climbers' as well.

Eric McCarty @ CU Center for Sports Medicine, its located next door to Boulder Center for Sports Medicine. He's climbed when younger (his dad is Cleve McCarty). He did my shoulder which was chronic and now its better then the shoulder which didn't need work.

Hey Dan, I'm in the same boat with my shoulder - 2 yr old climbing injury that I let go until it got to the point where it now hurts to do every day stuff, like shifting gears in my car and washing dishes. (Note to self: Don't ignore nagging injuries.)

I saw Dr Stephen Paul from Boulder Orthopedics Dec 23, got my MRI on Dec 31, and I have surgery scheduled with him for Jan 28. It's been a good experience so far. Will let you know how it turns out.

A friend of mine just had McCarty operate on his shoulder last month, and he had a good experience with him.

Good on you for getting it looked at...in hindsight I wish I'd done it sooner. I haven't climbed for over 3 months now, so my road bike has seen quite a bit of use. Though I haven't gotten out yet to do Morgul-Bismarck again :-)

You can give me a call for acupuncture -
Mandala Clinic
Joni Renee

or email me for my cell, and we'll set you up with an appt.
Acupuncture can work wonders.

We can give you a superbill, too.
Usually insurance covers acupuncture.

When I started climbing... and didn't know what the heck I was doing, I kept hurting my back/shoulders, and the only thing that helped was acupuncture... in one session, the pain would be gone.
I won't go into it here the other things I tried.

Hope to talk to you soon!

Dr. Stephen Paul reconstructed my shoulder 11 months ago and he did an amazing job! I've talked to a number of sports medicine people and they have all described him as having "magical hands" and is definately considered one of the best surgeons around. If you are having shoulder problems definately consider talking to him, even if you don't want to go the surgery route. He will be able to give you good advice either way. Good luck!

have you considered sports massage therapy? If that interest you I have a name of an excellent therapist and reasonable cost. I think she works in Westminster a couple days a week.

Uhhhh... acupuncture can help with a lot of things, but one thing it definitely can not help with is a structural/mechanical problem with a joint.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
