I'm a climber with a 5+ month old. When it warms up this summer, I'd like to occasionally bring my daughter out to the crag. It's going to introduce some extra overhead and slow down the pace of climbing. I don't expect childless folks will want to deal with the extra trouble. That's why I'm hoping to find other parents that would like to bring their kid(s) out. I figure if we team up to have a group of 3 or more, we can rotate between climber, belayer, and babysitter. My wife climbs a little bit, so that could be 2. Any parent or parents out there interested in teaming up to climb with the kids?

BTW, as far as skill level, I lead 5.9 sport and have done a bunch of trad belaying/following. I've been climbing for many years with interruptions here and there. Not climbing the hardest stuff in the world at the moment but always looking to get out and get better.

Also, in case any experienced parents of older kids stumble across this post, feel free to drop any advice you may have. Doing stuff with a kid is all new to me, obviously, and I'm hoping to make it work.

This is a great video, if you haven't seen it. I think it probably relates to what you are thinking: Video

I have an 18 month old son, so I know where you're coming from. For the last two years we've focused a lot more on bouldering. There's less gear required and you don't get up and away from the kid for very long. While one of us is working out beta the other tends to our son. I know bouldering just isn't the same, but it has helped keeping us from getting too rusty.

I have a one month old daughter so I doubt I'll be toting her to any crags until the fall at the earliest, but I'd definitely be interested in meeting up with other folks trying to climb with an infant at that point.
Both my wife and I work weekdays so I'm thinking we will be attempting to visit more obscure crags so we can be out of peoples' way and minimize any safety concerns from third parties' actions.

In the meantime, if you can swing short climbing excursions(2-3 hours) sans family, I've been trying to swing those. I've mostly done flatiron scrambles since I don't need a partner for that, but I could also be into hitting convenient crags in Bocan or similar. pm me if interested.

I am relatively new to CO, so i am still learning all the spots, but i have a nearly 4 year old daughter who i have been taking to the gym, so she loves to climb as well, pretty cute stuff.

Looking for another parent to boulder with or climb for sure, not a trad climber, just sport or boulder. Let me know if your interested in heading out, just need a couple day heads up to clear it with the wife.
