Ciao!

I am an American traveling wine regions and climbing, mainly in Northern Italy for 4 more weeks. I can easily be in Liguria, Aosta, the Dolomites, and Alto Adige. I have been climbing for 6 years and have lived in both Colorado and the Yosemite area, so I do have knowledge and experience. Generally a solid 5.10 climber. Please message me if you are up for climbing!

Thanks You!

Damn I wish I heard from you 2 weeks ago!! Why are you traveling wine regions?? I own a wine importing company and we have lots of partners in Italia.

I have been in the wine business for 8 years- sommelier, distribution, and hospitality...I came to work harvest in La Morra, Piedmont. Crappy vintage for them so my workload was much shorter than I expected, and now I have time to travel. Sounds like you aren't here anymore? Do you know any climbing buddies in Italy?

Yea my producer in Piemonte said it was rough, but ended up getting a pretty good (but small) vintage, at least of the Nebbiolo's. No climbing buddies there but I almost stayed at this airbnb and the owner seems to have some connections with climbing/climbers, you could ask he's a super nice guy:

Good luck out there, let me know next time you go, I'm there often!

Hi, I'm looking to climb at an international destination within the next couple of weeks - have climbed in Italy several years ago. Are you still looking for a partner? I climb sport routes, not good at placing trad. Can lead 5.9-5.10 and can follow harder climbs. Female climber.

Hey guys! Karisg and Lisa, I'm finishing a work project in Lucca italy (toscana) and I've got an extra week to climb here. I'm flying out of rome on the 9th (sunday) very early in the morning. Anyone wanna come crush some limestone and eat ravioli al ragu in toscana? Let me know.

Karsig, where will you be from the 3rd-8th? Its less likely that i'll travel only for cost reasons but the north would obviously be epic! If I could join you would you be keen??

Ciao, a presto ;)

Ps. I climb anything and everything and have the best time regardless so whatever you guys are into, assume I'm into that as well!

Depanicis- your timing is impeccable. I will arrive to Tuscany on Sunday or Monday and would love to climb anywhere, anything! My schedule is flexible, but was going to head north to alto adige around weds/thurs. When and where should we meet?

Karisg! You legend! Thats the best news I've heard in days! Okay some of my thoughts and details...

Are you flying into Pisa or Florence? I have to be in Lucca (45 minute train from Pisa for 4Euro) until Monday morning but after that I'm free and open to anything.

This is the beta I've been looking at and it lists a decent amount of climbing in and around here so I was going to explore the near by area. climb-europe.com/RockClimbi…

It looks like there is quite a variety. If you're not in a rush maybe we could climb until the end of the week here and you can move on when I head to my flight in rome (Sunday Nov 9)?

I would be absolutely stoked to go to the dolomites but I don't know if it would be worth it with the limited time I have. Its possible but I would have to research the transport, costs and time tables to get me to Rome for my flight. Lets not rule it out ;)

Transport: whats your situation? I've heard from many that its best to have a ride around here so would you be interested in splitting a cheap rental?

Accommodations: I've got camping and cooking gear that could accommodate 2 and that was my plan to keep it cheap if you wanted to dirt-bag out the back of a rental. Cheap pasta and vino?? What were your thoughts there?

Gear and grades: I've got personal gear, a 50m rope and runners (not draws sadly, since I couldn't find my dog bones so I just brought what I had). I climb solid 5.11 sport and 5.10 trad but I push the grades wherever I can. That said, I'll climb moderates for days and still have fun.

You'll have to excuse my eagerness if its a bit intense. I've just been working 50-70 hour weeks for the past month so I'm really looking forward to this climbing vacay.

Let me know your thoughts.

Piacere!

Wow---seems like our stars are aligning in pure perfection. I am in portofino now, heading to cinque terre this afternoon and then was going to stay in Lucca tomorrow night. What a coincidence. Additionally I have rented a car and am currently living out of it although I wasn't prepared (didn't bring a sleeping bag or anything to camp with) so I've just been parking random places and sleeping. You will have to excuse my shower less self but I love dirtbags ing and have also been working long hours the last four weeks. Yesterday was my first day off, so I am psyched! I am eager to climb also as it is my greatest passion aside from wine. I have no current schedule but am dying to get out. I can give you my Italian phone number via PM if that is an easier way to contact or my US number will also call forward. Just let me know what is easiest and I'll look forward to seeing u soon. Cheapest is best, and I have plenty of wine.. One issue. I only brought harness and shoes so Im hoping we have enough gear. I'm not even sure If I packed my atc, but I'm sure we can make it work if we sport climb or I an go buy one. I climb the same grades as u but it's been four weeks since I left the states so, let's just see how strong we can get! Ciao for now!!!

Unreal! Its meant to be...

At the moment Lucca is insane!! There are some 200,000+ people inside the city walls for the Comics festival. Its like Halloween on steroids. Its quite the site to see. You should definitely consider coming to check it out - most of it is free. Unless you wanna get away from people in which case its the worst idea hahaha. You might have a hard time getting a place, but if you do want come you can stay at my place tomorrow night and have a shower if you want. Not that I have anything against dirt bagging, in fact i prefer it. I've lived in a van for the past 8 months touring the USA and climbing (I'm from Squamish, BC)

Its been exactly 4 weeks since I last touched rock as well.

I should have everything we need for sport climbing at least. Might be worth buying a few extra draws. I have 10 with me. I'll buy the guide for the zone too - i like to collect them. If we wanna get onto something big we can just buy whatever we need in the area. there is a climbing shop outside the city walls.

I can pitch whatever you want on that car and gas for our journey together. If you're keen to camp out we should do it! I have the cooking gear for us, we just need to get cooking fuel, pasta, sauce, and cheese! Psyched!!

I'll PM you my number. Its a Canadian number but if we stick to texting it should be pretty cheap. Pass me your italian number i suppose.

Let me know your movements and we can iron out the plan

IF ANYONE ELSE IS IN ITALY! drop us a line :)

I'm interested in climbing in Italy. I climb 5.11 and have gear to contribute. I live in Sicily.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
