Looking for an affordable house to rent in Bishop

My wife was just offered a job in Bishop and figured we would ask the community if there is any affordable family/kid friendly rentals. We would need at least a 3/2 or larger and would prefer a house over an apartment, oh and something with a decent sized yard.
Thanks
Josh

Rentals in Bishop are mostly dilapidated, poorly-constructed and over-priced homes, along with a smattering of trashy appartments. There exists the rare and occassional gem, but you have to be at the right place at the right time. First time homeowners and renters seeking affordable housing often live in Big Pine.

Really handy Coldwell Banker list of rentals (updated weekly):

bishoprealestate.com/RENTAL…

Do NOT, under any circumstances, rent from DelaRosa property management. They are a den of vipers.

And hopefully you don't have pets.

Welcome to town.

Define affordable.

For what you're looking for expect spend at least $1500 in Bishop, $1300 in Big Pine.

Where you coming from?

Bishop is pretty nice place to live if your into the outdoors....

I have a friend who just purchased a home on the west side of town....

he got a pretty good deal, if you ask me.

And for the record.... Bishop is a suburb of LA. ;>)

locals... OK to flame me for that one.

I'm sure guy is just trying to get our goat, but fortunately we really aren't a suburb of LA, I know only a few people that came here from the LA area, but there are a lot from SF and put of state.

Now Mammoth seems to be almost entirely made up of LA white people and the Mexicans that do all of their work.

I lived in Bishop for years and have many friends who live there. You can find great houses for a good price. Nobody uses Craigslist out there, a lot of stuff is posted in the newspapers like these:

thesierrareader.com/

Good luck with the hunt! The Eastern Sierra is a year round wonderland. Oh, and give the White Mountains a chance. Spectacular solitude and sites to see.

Skitch.... I like getting people's goats.

But dosent LA DWP own the land that the aqueduct is on?

That means LA extends past Bishop.

I know the "locals" hate that... except for the DWP workers.

It's been like that for a 100 years or so.

And I know many many folks from LA have second homes there, or around there,
that's why I call it "LA North"

And I don't get your comment about
"white folks and mexicans" ....

Anyway Bishop is changing, for the better I think, from a place where people had to live. To a place where folks want to live.

I want to live there cause it's Vacation Land.

Flame me if ya wish.... It's expected

Pease out
