Hey gang! I am heading back to the Ditch on the 3rd, and have a campsite for that day. Looking for a tent space for the 4th-10th, if anyone is staying there and has some room please let me know. Willing to help out with costs and/or beer. Cheers!

Why not just snag a first-come first-serve spot at Camp 4 or Tuolumne? As long as its not a weekend you shouldn't have a problem.

Mostly because this time of year, Camp 4 fills up pretty quick even during the week. And the Meadow is too far of a drive when I am there to climb in the Valley. Thanks for the suggestion though!

To try and get a spot at C4, people start lining up at like 5 in the morning and sleeping in line, it's kind of a pain in the ass (and very boring.) LOL!

I'm looking for pretty much the same thing. A friend of mine is going down tomorrow and potentially getting in line for C4 on Wednesday morning? I won't be down til Friday, but any info would help.

Hey violetteta,

The deal with C4 has always been the same - it's first-come first-served, so people start lining up stupidly early to get a spot. Even if your friend gets a spot, he wouldn't be able to "reserve" a spot for you as all people staying in camp have to be present with an ID.

What I usually do is try to get my first night in one of the other campgrounds - I'm usually pretty lucky at getting a single night in Upper or Lower Pines as people cancel their reservations. You can check recreation.gov to see if there are any openings. That way you have a day to get around and see what might be available, like people staying in the reserved campgrounds that have extra space. I always say I am bringing the max amount of people in the reserved sites, as people are always looking for a spot this time of year.

Another thing you can do to get a night's bumper to look around is to get a back-country permit for Cloud's Rest, for instance. With a permit, you can camp the night before and the night after the permit date in the back-country campground.

Failing all that, you can do as the dirtbags do - bandit camp in one of the secret spots around the Valley. Also, as long as your portaledge is 4 feet off the ground, you are "on a wall" and can camp that way for at least a night. Hope that helps - good luck!

Thanks Travis. Much appreciated. I'll keep all that in my mind. Enjoy your trip!

Travis,
I know it's kinda late notice, but i scored a site at upper pines for tomorrow night if you still need a spot. I only have it for a single night. give me a shout.
