I tend to think of smoking weed as a prerequisite for my climbing partners...it's not exciting unless you forget to follow through with your knot...adds a little spice to the route

In all seriousness your request doesn't seem absurd to me, why not look for a person you get along with, but it's also like looking for a chick....you could wait for the perfect one or you could say f*** it a bone the drunk fat chick at the end of the bar. Some folks have different priorities

The dude that wanted me to bang him (and his wife) who waited to tell me this until we were in the desert at red rocks, (no shit) who was also placing cams with the stem pointed up, got scared half way up frigid air buttress and froze up.

or the guy that was bipolar and all over the place between his highs and lows.

The guy that didn't wear deodorant and made my eyes water to be around at the belay.

The dude (recently here) that was trying to make a reality tv show about how the pyramids are all tied into an ancient electrical grid (think bear grylls on drugs)... I just want to climb LOL

Do you still have contact information for these people?

I call bullshit.

To Nick: Hang in there, if you're a decent person, and a decent partner- which you seem to be, you'll build up a good "repertoire" of solid partners over time. Sounds like you have a good eye for sketchballs, but somehow have trouble avoiding them.

Your list isn't at all demanding or out of the ordinary except for maybe the non-smoker part partially- I agree with not smoking while climbing.

You totally should have gone for it in the desert though. Pussy.

I've got to move to the Front Range.

Welcome to Mountain Project NickinCO.

You may have noticed, most ignore "Guideline #1: don't be a jerk" and exercise "Amendment #1: free speach"....mostly to violate "guideline #1.

Good luck with your partner search.

Oh I've been a member for over 2 years (with a name change). It's sad how this place has gone down in quality in that short time. I still enjoy it though just have to ignore the bullshit. I've gotten at least 6 emails from people looking to climb.

The post I made is now gone. I always understood yanking posts that were negative and aimed at individuals. But that one was a mere off-color joke. Censorship for political correctness is now working its way in here. Sad.

As usual, Some of the flaming is pretty funny, but I don't really understand what the big deal is. All the OP is trying to do is not waste your time, or his. What if he made a one liner type of post and one of you guys ended up sharing a rope with him? Youd realize that you hate the guy (or maybe not) and you'd have wasted a day on some dude from MP. The way i see it, Nick is doing all you guys a service by telling you before hand that yu wouldnt match up well as partners. Thank him and move on. Ryan Williams

Everyone on this thread is a brat, except you, holierthanthough hypocrite. Your post was not inflammatory at all and added so much to the conversation. Thanks for the contribution.

I think I've saved or responded to every one that has emailed me so far. Leaving for florida tuesday for some family stuff for a week and then I'll be looking to get outside. Probably just send a mass email and see who responds. NickinCO
