Looking for a shoulder specialist in the Boulder area
|
I messed my shoulder up climbing on Sunday and need to go see a shoulder specialist. Anyone have any good recommendations in the Boulder area? |

Khemarin Seng did a fantastic job repairing my left shoulder after an injury, he's also a nordic and backcountry skier and overall great guy! |

For me after two Boulder orthos it was well worth finding Millet at Steadman clinic in Vail. I would go to him or Hackett in the same clinic. |

hey chad, sorry to hear about the shoulder. surely there are plenty of good docs in the boulder area, but i'll add another endorsement of dr tom hackett at the steadman clinic in vail. unfortunately i have a ton of experience with injuries and surgeries, and i've never seen anyone better than him. he's a former climber, friends with lots of climbers (he's fairly renowned for his work on olympians and bona fide professional athletes -- people from around the world fly to vail to see him), and he totally "gets it." great guy on top of it all. i think he sees patients a couple times a week at their frisco clinic, too, which is a shorter drive. |

Michael Repine at the BMC repaired my right shoulder a year and a half ago. I had a badly torn rotator cuff, bone chips, and something with my bicep. The surgery was followed by intense PT. I couldn't be happier with the result. He'll be doing my other shoulder this winter. |

Dr Hackett is the best in my opinion and in the opinion of a lot of long time climbers that I know. Another vote for him. |

Thanks for all the replies. There's nothing as "fun" as searching for that special doctor that you'll let cut you open. |

Eric McCarty at CU Sports Med. He's CU's footballs main ortho doc and repaired my shoulder years ago. |

+1 for Eric McCarty. He did a thorough evaluation of my shoulder a few years ago. Basically he told me that he could operate if I wanted, but non-surgical intervention was as likely or more to succeed as surgery. I appreciate an ortho who pauses before cutting. |
