Looking for a partner for Longs (preferably via the Notch) - June 9-11

Hi there,

I am in the middle of a roadtrip and will be passing through CO over the next 10 days. My hope is to meet up with the local climbing community where I go, and try and climb some of the classic routes.

I will be in RMNP between June 9 and 11, and would really like to experience any of the routes up Longs. This area is new to me, and so climbing with an experienced local would be ideal. I have cut my teeth mostly on New England ice, up in the Whites in NH. I am comfortable on WI/AI 3-4, and will have all my gear with me for what I have read a route like the Notch has on offer.

Would love to meet up with someone interested in getting out around the time I'll be there.

Thanks!

The Notch might be tricky given the current conditions (warm days with crazy rainstorms). There's been recent reports about wet slides given this year's huge snowpack which hasn't stabilized at all. The Notch is a huge terrain trap with fatal consequences (the lower East Face of Longs is right below it).

Right...thank you for the helpful advice. Conditions would have to be safe and it appears these are had to come by off late. I will see what is on offer once I get into the area.
Thanks again.

I wouldn't do it right now.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
