Hey everybody! My name is Claire and I will be coming into Denver and hanging out from Sept 13-16, and I was hoping to get some advice on where might be the best place for me to get some climbs in. I will be carless, so I'm looking for something relatively close to town or within bus distance...

Where do you recommend going for some moderate sport climbs? Single pitch, ranging from 5.7 to 5.10b ish, as that's where I'm comfortable leading...

Anybody have any suggestions for me or interested in meeting up for a day? reply here or email me at cnaulty@psd1.org

I appreciate it!
Claire

Try North Table Mountain in Golden.

Nice sport routes from 5.6 up & easy access. Most, if not all, are shorter single pitch routes.

Tends to be really crowded, especially on weekends & gets hot (not much shade), so I'd go early if possible (also to avoid afternoon rain showers).

Brown Cloud crags seem to see the most activity (especially toproping and climbing classes)

Or you can get a ride to the Sympathy for the Devil campout in Devil's Head that weekend and climb with any number of people that will be there. It's just up in the foothills by Castle Rock.

Ouray Ice Park Pick o' the Vic?
The public bus runs from downtown Boulder to Nederland, it has various stops in the canyon. If you just got off at the falls (a major visitor stop), you'd be within reach of a lot of interesting crags.

There's a lot of good urban Bouldering in downtown denver. I highly recommend an area called 5-Points, ask around for Spider. Tell him that you're psyched to be in town. He's got all the good beta.

Seriously?
Try the line called Seagram's, consensus V0, the crux is not getting shot in the face by gang-bangers while floating effortlessly over the dregs of society.

North table would be way hot and greasy but full of amazing short faces and cracks....devil's head ,could be committing as far as partners go, they may be difficult and or psychotic, etc. Once you car pool out it may be hard to retreat.boulder canyon and its buses seem like an all around good option....but a little further from Denver. Clear creek is probably the most logical, proximity and stylewise for Denver.........there r a lot of options to get off the beaten path as Well.let me know if you want to get out...

There is a big gathering at Devil's Head: so while it is not bus friendly at all, rides and partners could be had pretty easily that weekend, as the other Tim said.

Clear Creek is great, but I'm not aware of any bus stops in the canyon, so you'd be walking a long, narrow road, hitch hiking, or climbing at Canal Zone. Canal Zone would be your best bet.

While farther from Denver, Boulder Canyon would be much more amenable to the car-less, and buses go from Denver to Boulder regularly.

Hey everybody! Thanks for your fast responses :)
Mike C I would love to connect up with you for at least a day of climbing! My phone number is 5099484291, you should send me a text! I really appreciate all the tips on where to climb. I would love to meet up with the Devils Head group but I cant climb the WHOLE weekend so I don't think it would work.

Thanks again! And hit me up, Mike!
Claire
