| Not sure if this should be in the Northern or Souther California forum but I'll ask anyways. I have a job offer near Cambria and before moving my family out there and accepting I wanted to know more about the area. Anyone live near there? Is there anything to do? Climb? How affordable is it? Any tips at all for the area? Thanks | FLAG |

| Cambria, is beautiful. It is more of a Northen California location..... Not a climbers paradice though, some stuff near SLO... old school trad that the new locals hate cause Tobin and Erik Eriksson did the FA's ... some bouldering. Cayucos is a small beach town about 15 miles south from Cambria... It is a beach town right out of California circa 1960.... I would kill my mom if I could live and work there. SLO has a college population and gets rock bands to drop in and has a good bar scene. Oh yea.... you never said where your from now... so its affordable- if your usta California prices. It is a BEACH aera. If your from HOUSTON your going to be in for a shock.... The good news is this... you can get to the meat of western Sierra climbing in about 4 - 5 hours... so if you love rockclimbing... everything from Yosemite south to Kernville (Needles) is your weekend climbing. | FLAG |

| Thanks for the info! We're living in Sacramento now, so prices seem a little higher, but yes nothing too crazy. The climbing near SLO looked good, probably perfect for weekend trips / after work. Overall seems pretty slow, laid back and an older population. Worried we would get bored after a few years. I'll look into Cayucos though. Any other areas nearby that would be more livable? Thanks | FLAG |

| Sacramento = BBQ pit. Cambria = cool paradise. So your from California you know the drill... I know there must be bouldering around Cambria... you can see some large boulders sitting in private fields and down in some of the PO choked canyons around Cambria. I go there - Cayucos - for vacation and like to just hang at the beach.... You might want to rundown Tom Slater.... local who makes guide books. | FLAG |
