Description Suggest change

This 220 feet black-gray spire is the most noticeable/spectacular pinnacle on the west wall of the Loomis Lake Cirque south of Loomis Lake. This spire may have another name and an earlier climb than ours but no luck finding it. I once talked to Ed Schunk [Sheridan Big Horn local climber] about this spire.

This spire has many crack systems >>220 feet [larger than seams and visible from down low on the west side]from the south side clockwise to the north side. Some of them on the SW side are quite steep and look impressive by today's high angles. As this spire is quite near a north facing cirque wall there is little sun all day on some of these lines.

Getting There Suggest change

We started from Paint Rock Lakes Guard Station taking the North High Park Trail to the Solitude Trail to the Cliff Lake Trail and leaving it at Lake Eunice for Lake Elsa. From here head southeast passing the east side of Lake 10770 and continue 1/3 mile southward to where the south saddle with the Little Horn is visible and go up the slope to the south saddle where.
