Description Suggest change

An obvious route south of the Y route with a similar split near its end. Most of the climbing is WI2 and the right fork is harder.

Location Suggest change

Please refer to the South Toe River, Mount Mitchell, and Big Ivy Trail Map (Pisgah National Forest)

From the end of 1157 (see Crescent and Y routes) continue up the gravel road, then the drainage, and eventually move left following the large drainage north of locust ridge.

Descent: Once on top pick up the Black Mountain Crest Trail, head south, and descend the Colbert Ridge Trail to its trailhead on 1158. Leave a second car here or huff it back to the start.
