Did a quick search and didn't really find anything, but if you know of an existing thread by all means point me to it.

I have a trip scheduled for Squamish starting next tuesday. As of right now the weatehr looks not so good. Leavenworth on the other hand looks pretty inviting, and is a lot closer to Vancouver than Smith. What's the camping situation in Leavenworth? Nothing really listed on the area page here, other than a reference to Forest Service Campgrounds. Anyone have any recommendations on the best place for a visiting climber to camp? Will want the most convenient spot for access to multi-pitch, sport climbing, and bouldering, in that order of importance. Not looking to do anything super big, but want to get up off the ground. Probably going to hang out there for the first part of the trip and keep a close eye on Squamish weather as the week progresses.

Anyone with any advice from camping to what climbs are must do's, i'm all ears.

Just head up icicle creek at the edge of town. There is 8-mile campground (about 8 miles up the road) as well as some others. If you are going mid-week you should not have too much of a problem finding something up there. I believe most are first come first serve and I am sure others will chime in. The climbing areas up icicle are some of the best I've seen.

8 mile forest service campground is fairly close to some cragging and such, as well as some longer stuff. It's been filling every weekend lately, so it may be difficult to get a site, but its probably your best bet for convenience, though realistically you'll probably end up driving regardless of where you camp.

Lots of people camping in the forest lands parking area lately, but please don't. It is a posted no camping lot, despite the fact that various jackasses routinely rip down the sign as is the case lately. It certainly isn't good for climber/land manager relations and they may or may not issue you a ticket for it.

Thanks guys. It looks like i'll probably pull into town sometime very early Wednesday morning, so if ever there was a chance to find a free spot i hope it's then. Noted about the parking area, will steer clear.

Ive always just slept in my car on the side of icicle road or the #2. Sometimes Ill throw a pad out on the side of my car not facing the road. Never been bothered, not yet atleast. Camping is expensive its like $20 a night for a spot, if you only have 1 car.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
