Laurel Knob car camping

I'm taking a trip to laurel knob soon and was curious about car camping options. I know there is a lot of national forest land around and also a lot of private property that should be avoided. I'm also aware not to camp in the posting lot for laurel knob.

We will be towing a teardrop trailer behind our subaru and are open to mild 4wd trails if that's what it takes to be legal and secure. Are there pullouts on breedlove road on fs land where we could camp, or fs roads branching off of breedlove? Ideally we would camp somewhere we could leave the trailer locked during the day, but this is not a requirement.

You'll be able to fit in one of the wide parts of Breedlove, more than likely, where everyone else parks. Park down the road from the gate a good ways. If you get to the end of Breedlove on a crowded weekend, I bet you'll have a hard time backing out as it will be TIGHT. You should be safe leaving your teardrop there, although I have never seen anyone do that and don't know that I'd recommend it. There are no major pulloffs along Breedlove that aren't private property to my knowledge. Another option would be Ammon's Branch below Whitesides, several miles West of Cashiers, closer to Highlands. Otherwise, you'll likely want to find a spot further East, towards Brevard, on FS land...

Took my little scotty to Laurel last month. It worked out fine. If you are worried about the turnaround at the end of Breedlove road, you can park at the end of the paved section. Many people park their horse trailers there and it is just a short walk to the trailhead.
