Location
La Mesola is in Arabba about a 45 min drive NE of Canazei on SS48. Once in Arabba you can take the Porta Vescovo cable car up to the ridge line or it's about a 2 hr hike. There is a distinct trail from the top of the cable car over to the start of the route. An alternate approach it from the South - Drive up to Passo Fedaia and park at the west end of Lago di Fedaia. Hike up path # 698 for 45 minutes Porta Vescovo. This will cost less money than taking the cable car but requires more hiking.
To descend you can reverse the Ferrata or you can descend down east towards Rifugio Padon and either hike back through the fields on the south side of the ridge line, coming out at the Porta Vescova cable car and/or path #698. Finally if you parked on the South side you can just descend path #699 from Rifugio Padon down to the dam at the East end of Lago Fedaia and then hike back to your car.

Description
This area is a volcanic ridge making it very different from the surrounding limestone. Gorgeous fins of rock jet up from the mountain slopes that look across at the glacier on Marmolada.
This is a fantastic ferrata that stays on a sharp ridge line for a good portion of it. A headlamp is a must as it has a long tunnel section that's totally cool with big rooms & stairs that have been carved out during the first world war. Makes you feel like you've entered the land of the hobbit. The ridge line was awesome too. Steep areas making going up & down the cables more difficult.
