My lady's birthday is coming up and she absolutely loves her worn out Keen hiking boots... I was wondering if anyone has experience with newer Keen products and any alternatives...

Preferably some with water/slip resistant soles so when we go trekking through creek crossings she is still able to keep her footing

MY girl loves her Keen Targhee II boots (walking on clouds). The traction isn't as good as vibram boots tho.

Ironically, that is the boot that she owns now (it may be the original Targhee) and I've noticed that she has some traction issues on wet stone... perhaps it is just because of the soles being worn...?

My girlfriend likes the Merrell Moab, mid-height. She's got the generic waterproof version, which seems to work well, but the Gore-tex version is apparently only 15 dollars more.

Super grippy, comfortable, durable, and pretty reasonable pricing. Also breathes very well/ dries fast.

Thanks everybody. I appreciate it!

I'll second the editor's choice on the Lowa Renegade. Pricey, but oh so sweet! Best boot I've ever owned for comfort and performance.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
