We lost a pioneer Sandia climber last month. Jay Evans was 61 years old. He boasts several FAs including Last Dance on the Shield & the West Chimney on the Needle. Jay had an enthusiastic & philosophical & eclectic character: juggler, trick rider, musician, calligrapher, & all around entertainer. Some of you olde tymers may remember. Jay spent his last years as deputy director of Albuquerque's Open Space Division. He worked tirelessly for the preservation of both human & natural resources.
