BETA PHOTO: Original beta drawing from Cedar City Bouldering g...
Description
Single boulder with rock similar to Joe's Valley sandstone. Several quality problems. Close to town, good after work/school area.
Obviously not a destination, but when it's all you've got, it's a good time. Also, there may be more potential further down the trail/road from Jarem's Boulder. There's also a boulder behind the green water tank that can be seen from Google Earth at 37.648422° -113.065391°, may or may not be worth a look.
Getting There
Going south on Main Street, turn left at the southern most stoplight, and then take the first left onto Greenslake Dr. When the road turns to dirt reset your trip odometer, and drive 2 miles (According to Google Maps. In the original guidebook we had 2.7 miles, but I think it is wrong). Park in the pull out on the right. The boulder is visible in the trees to the north.
The trail starts 50 ft up the road and across the road. Hike north on the old dirt road for about 2 mins. The boulder will be obvious on your right.
The Classics
Mountain Project's determination of some of the classic, most popular, highest rated routes for Jarem's Boulder:
Best problem on the boulder. Sit start on small crimp and pocket. Climb the arete to a crux move pinching the arete. ...[more]Browse More Classics in UT
Routes 1-3 in the beta photo have been substantially effected by rock breakage. In comparing photos a full third of the face has fallen off.(most likely due to freezing and thawing.) The problems cannot be done with the same beta as the first ascent.
Dang. Haven't been up there in 4 years or so. Definitely makes those problems harder, V6+? Not many holds in the middle. If they are sendable, update the rating, or post it here and I will update it.
