I love climbing there. If you do to, get in touch. I live in Davis. I have been there in the worst downpours imaginable and was able to climb. Of course if the weather is good I'm all for the valley but if its not this is an awesome 2nd choice (and a worthy destination in its own right). Granted it is hard and overhanging so be prepared. And by the way, kneepads aren't required, thats just a bunch of hype.

Not familiar with Jailhouse--where is it? What type of rock? Trad? Sport? Bouldering?

I have heard of jailhouse and have seen it in the new bay area climbing guide book. Looks pretty intense though with the overhanging routes in the 5.12-14 grade with only one 5.11d as the easiest. Climbing looks awesome but a lil over my grade though.

Its blocky volcanic rock in a big overhaning cave. The easiest route is 11c and its at least a quality 11c. After that the grades get stiff. If you're pushing into 12- than there are some good things to do as well. The more central in the cave the harder it gets. Its all sport mostly with hung draws. Its a very unique climbing experience especially if you're more accustomed to sierra granite. But its good all winter and it stays dry in all kinds of weather so why not?
Forget to mention I'm a weekend warrior only. In any case day trips might be best because the camping situation there is rather poor.
