iPhone app goes to gray screen on launch

Fired it up for the first time on my iPhone 5 and after the launch screen it just goes solid gray.

The screen went grey on my new iPhone 4s too.

Unfortunately it seems like deleting the app and reinstalling it is the way to fix this. Which unfortunately seems to cause you to lose all your data associated with the app.
