Description

Amazing sport and trad climbing, bouldering, and deep-water soloing all within a few hours' drive of...pretty much wherever you are on the western coast. Prime climbing season is often on the flipside of tourist season. In Turkey this means that many hotels and other services are closed for the winter.
Early November turned out to be perfect for us, despite it being "winter!"

Getting There

Fly via Europe. Many Euros vacation in the Med. region and Turkey is one of the cheaper destinations. Flying to Izmir puts you within a closer driving distance to Herakleia bouldering. However, flying to Antalya is more of a guarantee as it's the airport closest to Alanya, a big tourist destination. There is a lot of good sport climbing outside Antalya and there is DWS mere meters from the city streets...literally. Driving south from Antalya puts you in closer to good DWS; there is at least one guide service based in Olymnos. Flying to Dalaman puts you near Fethiye and the town of Olu Deniz; good DWS in this area as well.

We flew to Antalya and then drove through Fethiye to Herakleia; then back to Fethiye/Olu Deniz; then back to Antalya. There was good climbing at each stop.
