East Railay Beach at sunset. The high tide makes ...

Description

This area is new for Mountain Project, and is just getting started. Feel free to contribute!

The east side of the Railay Peninsula. The beach in this area isn't much to look at, and during low tide basically turns into a mudflat. It's cheaper to stay here rather than at Railay West, but perhaps a bit more expensive than Tonsai.

A large number of bars and restaurants, including the "Last Bar" which indeed is the last bar on the beach. ATM in front of Viewpoint Resort, and there are several mini-marts.

Getting There

Long-tail boat from Ao Nam Mao; long jungle trail from Tonsai Bay; paths through the various resorts from Railay West.

Accomodations

  • Railay Cabana
  • Rapala Resort

Brian TR'ing the fantastic Medusa's Lover.

Medusa's Lover 5.11b  International : Thailand : ... : The Keep
Start on the boulder in the middle of the wall. Pull on, and make thin face moves for 40 feet. then, step up and left into a powerful bulge that offers some relief with tufa stemming. Take it easy on those tufas! pull up the tufas to a sharp pockety section, and clip the anchors. Lightner's guide lists this as 'one of the reasons you came to Siam.' I agree!...[more]   Browse More Classics in International
