The Brévent is a high point above Chamonix that might offer the best views of the Mont Blanc range--and fun climbing with a minimal approach (if you can afford a cable-car ticket). Much of the area faces south, but up here, cool breezes--or storms--can blow in and remind you you're high above the valley floor.
Getting There
Cable car! Follow the signs in Chamonix for the Brévent cable car, uphill from the church. Take the Rue de la Mollard west from the Place de l'Eglise, up the hill. Hang a quick right at the Route des Moussoux to reach the Brévent cable car.
