Installing a Hangboard

I have a hangboard that a friend gave me that I want to install, but unfortunately I live in an apartment. I do not want to buy the blankslate set-up. Does anyone know how to install a hangboard in an apartment without causing too much damage to the wall?

Thanks

Put it above the doorframe in a closet and putty over the holes when you leave.

Use a piece of plywood behind the board and you really will just end up with a few screwholes that are easily fixed and unnoticable inside a closet.

Drill the plywood into the studs!
Predrill holes in the plywood, use 2.5" long countersunk wood screws.

You could buy 2 eight-foot 2x4s, mount the board on the 2x4s as stilts, and lean the board-stilts against the wall above the door. Obvious modifications are possible if you don't want the slightly overhanging lean or need more space. Or you can use the slightly less-than-overhanging lean.

ya should have clarified that. If you don't put that plywood into the studs it will rip out of the drywall and that will not be small unnoticeable holes.

Predrilling is also a great idea.

Winter is coming soon. You should be training for ice.
